Normandy Care Center Receives Top Rating for Quality Care
Government ranks Rocky River Center among best in Ohio for skilled nursing care.
ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (March 8, 2018) – Normandy Care Center at 22709 Lake Rd. has received an overall rating of 5 stars – the highest possible ranking – from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
The ratings, which range from one star (poor) to five (excellent), measure overall performance and performance in three key areas: health inspections, staffing and quality measures such as percentage of short-stay patients (those who spent 100 days or fewer at the facility) who were successfully discharged or did not have to be re-hospitalized. The U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid oversee skilled nursing centers in the United States and update their ratings regularly.

The quality care measures included Normandy’s performance with patients who had to be sent to the emergency room (5.1 percent for Normandy compared to 11.9 nationally and 12.5 in Ohio.) Keeping patients out of the emergency room is a key performance measure for skilled nursing centers.
The government’s Five-Star Quality Rating System was established to help consumers, their families and caregivers compare nursing centers and other skilled nursing care providers. The Normandy Care Center, part of The Normandy Senior Living Campus in Rocky River, is a 150-bed facility that provides round-the-clock skilled nursing care for seniors. The campus provides a continuing care model, whereby seniors can live across a continuum of settings, from independent living (Breakwater Apartments) to assisted living (Lakeside Assisted Living) to skilled care (Normandy Care Center).
