At The Normandy, we love finding fun and engaging ways for our residents to stay active. That’s why we turn to Melissa Renner, Normandy fitness instructor and founder of Active for Life. Her company has developed a patent-pending tap shoe perfect for participating in her new and exciting program, Tap Time. What’s great about the program is that it can be done in the privacy of your own home, with residents at assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation or adult daycare facilities.
The specially designed tap shoe covers easily slip over any type of shoes. Whether someone requires special orthotic shoes or needs to wear a special brace or even a rehabilitation boot, the cover can fit over essentially any shoe so anyone and everyone can participate. All you need to do is unzip the shoe cover with the zipper on the front and place your foot into the large opening. The cover easily slides on over the participant’s shoe and is easy to zip back up. In addition to the well-designed tap shoe covers, Active for Life offers a tap board that allows you to protect your floor from the taps, or if you live in a home with carpet the board allows you to have a surface to generate the sound from the tap shoes.
